2019-04-23 09:57:00  ENGHUNAN

Hunan’s Zhangjiajie held a Symposium on Wulingyuan Tourism Market Expansion in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on April 1, 2019. Zhangjiajie tourism resources were favored by Malaysian tourism industry. Liu Weikang, secretary-general of Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association, expressed his willingness to actively promote tourism cooperation between the two places.

Wulingyuan District has rich tourism resources including a world natural heritage site and a world geopark. Southeast Asia has also been Zhangjiajie’s important source of overseas tourists. Zhangjiajie had established its first overseas tourism promotion center in Malaysia earlier. The center helps attract many Southeast Asia tourists due to the fame-- Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the prototype for various elements in the movie ‘Avatar’. In recent years, the number of Southeast Asian tourists visiting Zhangjiajie has increased year by year.

At the symposium on that day, Ding Yunlai, vice head of Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan District People's Government, related that "Zhangjiajie landform" named by UNESCO, is located in Zhangjiajie, which boasts tourist attractions such as Yangjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, Yuanjiajie, Huangshizhai, Yellow Dragon Cave, and Baofeng Lake. There are also exciting folk cultural performances such as "Charming Xiangxi", "Misty Rain in Zhangjiajie", and "Xibu Laoqiang (opera)". He added that Zhangjiajie, rich in tourist resources, witnessed an integrated development of natural scenery and characteristic culture.

Mr. Ding also briefed Malaysian tourist agents on Zhangjiajie's colorful tourism resources, convenient transportation facilities and perfect reception facilities.

Tourism industry insiders from the two places also had extensive exchanges on image promotion, tourism charter flights, catering services and other aspects of cooperation.

Liu Weikang said that China has always been the top tourist destination for Malaysian tourists. He hoped Zhangjiajie would open direct flights to Malaysia as soon as possible, maintain a stable market support policy, and step up promotion efforts to attract more Malaysian and surrounding tourists to Zhangjiajie for sightseeing.

Zhangjiajie also organized tourism promotion in Thailand and Myanmar.
