2016-12-20 18:04:20

The photo taken on Sept. 7, 2016 shows staff from the Forestry Bureau of Yizhang County are measuring a taxus chinensis tree (a species of yew) in Yangtan Viilage, Yaogangxian Town.

A group of thriving taxus chinensis trees has been found in Yangtan Village, Xinping Village, Xiaping Village since the county launched a census of ancient tress this May. It is identified that there are eight 1000-year-old taxus chinensis trees, and the oldest of them is about 1300 years old. Recently the Forestry Bureau has taken protection and management measures by numbering and labeling these living trees.
