“Panda in Birds”—Chinese Merganser Was First Found in Zhangjiajie

On 10th Jan 2015, Bird Preservation Volunteer found 3 Chinese Mergansers along Lishui River in Yongding District of Zhangjiajie. Chinese Merganser, as relic species of tertiary ice age, is called the living fossil in bird species. It is protected as the first-rated animal and enjoy the same fame as Chinese national treasure Panda. This bird mainly breed in the north. Surprisingly, this is the first time Chinese Merganser was found in Zhangjiajie, Hunan.
