High-speed Trains Cut Travel Time from Changsha to Shanghai

Trains from Changsha to Shanghai section of the longest west-eastern high-speed railway, Hukun (Shanghai to Kunming) High-speed Railway, went into operation on December 10. With this high-speed rail line, travel time between Changsha and Shanghai has been reduced to 4 hours and 26 minutes, and between Changsha and Hangzhou to 3 hours and 38 minutes.

From Dec. 10 onwards, Changsha South Railway Station will run 18 high-speed trains to Hangzhou East Railway Station and 14 to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station. The full first-class and second-class fares for trains from Changsha to Hangzhou East Railway Station are 681.5 yuan and 405 yuan respectively, while those from Changsha to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station are 798.5 yuan and 478 yuan respectively.

Hukun High-speed Railway consists of Huhang (Shanghai to Hangzhou) Section, Hangchang (Hangzhou to Changsha) Section and Changkun (Changsha to Kunming) Section. Huhang Section opened to traffic in 2010, Hangchang Section started operation on December 10, and the line linking Changsha and Huaihua of Changkun Section will open this month.
