ZJJ Park Accepts Mid-stage Assessment by the United Nations’ Experts

On August 3, Setsuya Nakada and his colleague from United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), commenced their three-day comprehensive survey and assessment in Zhangjiajie. After the inspection, they would submit a written report to the UNESCO for further evaluation.

In recent years, 200 million yuan has been invested in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park for geological heritage protection, including upgrading geological disaster prevention, travel route transformation, field interpretation system and park signs; improving museum of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and establishing a database of geological heritage protection and geological disasters; and actively carrying out science and research activities, setting up Zhangjiajie topography united research center, conducting Zhangjiajie topography international academic seminar, and enhancing training related to geology and geoscience.

Final assessment result is expected to be announced in September in Canada at the world conference on geoparks.
