"Science Train" to Make First Entry into Xiangxi

The "Science Train", a science popularization initiative from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Hunan Provincial People's Government, will make its first entry into Hunan's Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture on May 18th. As one of the highlights of Hunan's annual Science Week, the "Science Train" will station there for five days.

The recently distributed program list for the Science Week features seven main activities, varying in their forms and contents. The "Science Train" event, for instance, attempts to dispatch experts in eight different counties and cities across Xiangxi to serve locals by holding science popularization activities, consultations, trainings, lectures, and free medical consultation clinic. The China (Changsha) Mineral and Gem Show will showcase mineral and gem resources,introduct the cause of formations, compositions.

During the week, experts from National University of Defense Technology and the Changsha Branch of People's Bank of China will be invited to present how high technology has motivated electronic commerce.

In addition, a wide array of science popularization bases will be established in the Geological Museum of Hunan Province, the earthquake prevention and disaster reduction exhibition hall of the Seismological Bureau of Hunan Province, and the insect specimen museum of Hunan Agricultural University.
