Hunan Celebrates Chinese Lantern Festival

On February 22, a four-day special performance for the Spring Festival on the theme of "Stage of Yiyang Flower Drum Opera" was staged at the Pearl Square along the Er'yang Pond of Ziyang District in Yiyang City, with dragon dance and local flower drum opera to celebrate the Lantern Festival.

On February 22, a traditional activity of the Xinhuang Dong Autonomous County named "To Celebrate the Spring Festival by Gonging at the Lantern Festival" was staged at Liangsan, a town of the county. About 200 gong players of 16 teams from border areas of Hunan and Guizhou Provinces attended the contest and shared the joy with local citizens along with the beating of gongs and drums.

On February 23, the Anren County's traditional contest of "Zhuo Jipo", a shaping contest of Yuanxiao (sweet dumplings), was opened at the Xinfeng Village of Yonglejiang Town. Citizens exchanged skills, passed on this cultural inheritance and celebrated the Lantern Festival.
