Hunan Changsha All Lit up for Lantern Festival

Changsha's Kaifu Temple adorned with colorful lanterns with fun lantern riddles attached at the Lantern Festival Blessing Ceremony.

The fourth Kaifu Temple Fair will be open at Kaifu Temple Cultural Square to celebrate the coming peaceful and joyful Lantern Festival, which falls on February 24 this year. Everyone is looking forward to seeing the lights, sending lanterns into the sky, wishing for blessing, guessing lantern riddles, tasting local snacks and joining in raffle drawings.

The lantern show, covering a total area of 7.6 square kilometers, is considered the largest Chinese New Year lantern show in China. Through marvelous combinations of light and shadow, it is truly a feast for the eyes of holiday visitors. The show will be open for one month.

In this light festival, the lighting arrays, formed by the combination of more than 50 groups of large-scale colored lights joined with the current Meixi Lake landscape lighting, create the lake into a vast sea of lanterns and lights, deeply reflecting the integration of tradition, stylish features and world elements.

The show makes use of the leading domestic LED cold lighting as it's main light source, which is 70% more energy efficient than traditional light sources.

The first Changsha Nianjia Lake Water Lights Show, themed "Happy Changsha", is set to create a cheerful festive atmosphere for citizens and tourists through a display of colorful traditional and modern light art.

Food fanatics enjoy delicious snacks from around the country at Changsha's Window of the World.

From February 10-24, Changsha Window of the World will offer diversified folk customs and snacks from across the country, literally providing a taste of home for tourists this Spring Festival!

World's best tulips to be exhibited at Hunan Botanical Garden to celebrate the 2013 Lantern Festival.

Visitors to Hunan Botanical Garden will feast their eyes on an indoor flower show highlighting 60,000 of Dutch tulips, 20,000 hyacinths, 5,000 hippeastrum and 1,000 Luoyang peonies.
