2012 Giant Salamander Protection and Development Seminar will be held

In the name of “protect giant salamander and promote resource utilization”, the 2012 Giant Salamander Protection & Development Seminar will be held in Zhanjiejie from 13 to 14 December, 2012. This activity is hosted by the National Wild Aquatic Animal Protection Branch, Hunan Livestock and Aquatic Products Bureau, Zhangjiajie Municipal People’s Government, undertaken by Hunan Giant Salamander Rescue Center, Zhanjiajie Livestock and Aquatic Products Bureau, Zhanjiajie Giant Salamander Protection & Development Association, and jointly hosted by Zhangjiajie Jinni Biotechnology Co. Ltd. The representatives from the Chief Wild Aquatic Animal Protection Department, Aquatic Reserve, Rescue Center, etc., experts from the concerning academy of sciences and colleges and universities, and representatives form Giant Salamander Managing, Utilizing & Domesticating Enterprise will attend this seminar and discuss the giant salamander protection strategies.

Far before this seminar, Zhanjiajie Giant Salamanders has gained the protection as a national product of geographical indication and the first one in wild aquatic animal area in China indeed. Moreover, in this seminar, Zhangjiajie City will get another landmark-like honor in the field of giant salamander protection and development, i.e. “the Hometown of Chinese Giant Salamander”.
