China Ancient Town Preservation & Development Forum Held in Hongjiang
2016-12-20 17:59:50

China Ancient Town Preservation & Development Forum themed with " Cross-straits Cooperation in Preserving Ancient Towns" was hosted in Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town, Huihua City from April 21 to 22. Relevant scholars and experts from Peking University, Hunan University and Taiwan University attended the forum.

More than 380 ancient buildings dating back to Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and the period of the Republic of China (1912-1949) still stand intact in Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town-the country's best ancient commercial town.

In recent years, Hongjiang District has vigorously implemented the strategy of "Rejuvenating the District with Tourism Boom". Some projects are being carried out in full swing to restore the core of the ancient commercial town, aiming to reproduce its original style.

Participants acclaimed the ancient town as a dynamic museum and a specimen of tracking the country's modern business development. They also put forward numerous valuable suggestions on restoring and preserving ancient architecture as well as furthering studies of the town's unique culture.
