Hunan to Establish Embroidery Association

It is learned from the Hunan Embroidery Research Institute on March 23 that Hunan is preparing for establishing the Hunan Provincial Embroidery Association, aiming at promoting the rapid development of Hunan (Xiang) embroidery industry.

In the 1970s, Hunan embroidery kept pace with Suzhou embroidery, sharing great reputation. However, nowadays, the sales volume of Hunan embroidery is only ten percent of that of Suzhou embroidery. Various problems including lack of product innovation, shortage of reserve talents and insufficient guidance in the large-scale industry development result in the current disadvantageous development situation of over 300 Hunan embroidery enterprises.

Now over 40 Hunan embroidery enterprises have applied to join in the association, and it is scheduled to be officially set up in this April, according to the preparatory group of the Hunan Provincial Embroidery Association. Upon the establishment of the association, through financing, a standardized Hunan Embroidery Art Industrial Park integrated with production, sales and training as a whole will be founded.
