Hunan Folk Music and Dance Staged in Taipei

The "Xiang (Hunan) Custom and Charm--Cross-strait Special Performance of Folk Music and Dance" was unveiled at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei on the night of Dec. 10. The performance attracted nearly 2,000 audiences.

The performance will also be staged 6 times respectively at the Performance Hall of Hsinchu County Cultural Center, the Music Hall of Tainan Municipal Cultural Center in Hsinying District, the Buddha Memorial Hall of the Fo Guang Shan Monastery in Kaohsiung and so on.

This is also the first time for people across the Straits to show intangible heritage on a same stage. Hunan Province dispatched over 80 actors and actresses for the event. The performance includes the drum dance and songs of Miao people, and the songs and warriors dance of Paiwan People of Taiwan. The show lasted for 80 minutes. 

Miss. Wang, in her twenties and from Taiwan, said that she has awakened to the wonder of Hunan Culture and she would love to visit Hunan some day.
