Reed Pipe Dance of Dong Nationality
2016-12-20 16:49:32  Zhangjiajie Tourism Information Website

The Reed Pipe Dance of the Dong Nationality was originally a dance marking the traditional fertility rites or ceremonies held to thank gods and ancestors for the harvest. It is now widely acknowledged as a lively and cheerful dance of amusement and courtship among young men and women of the Dong nationality.

Many of the grown-ups of the Dong nationality find their beloved ones at group dancings, known as “Caitang Dance” held in various festivals. On such occasions, young girls will all dress up in indigoblue and wear silver jewelries all over the body as a message of family affluence conveyed to young men.
